Club Med Beach and Safari Resort receives official professional certificate

Date:

Club Med South Africa Beach and Safari Resort Hits Major Milestone

The ceremonial handover of the certificate of use for the Club Med South Africa Beach and Safari Resort in Tinley Manor marked a big step forward for the project. Local leaders, municipal officials, and project teams gathered on site to celebrate the achievement.

Murray Collins from Collins Residential called the day “very special,” thanking the KwaDukuza community for its hard work. He emphasized that the resort will boost tourism, create jobs, and put the North Coast on the global map.

Development Phase Completed

The event signaled the official finish of the development phase for the 54,000‑square‑meter resort. The site now includes 64 buildings and represents a major investment for KwaZulu‑Natal’s north coast.

Paperwork and Approvals

Obtaining the professional certificate required processing 12 submission packages and about 2,000 certificates of completion and compliance, including 570 electrical certificates. The work also involved:

  • 3.3 km of water mains
  • 8.4 km of medium‑voltage cable
  • A 9‑meter pipe jack beneath the N2 highway
  • A 40‑meter directional drill under the P467 road

Chris du Toit, Club Med South Africa’s project manager, highlighted that strong partnerships made these complex tasks possible.

Jobs and Community Impact

Du Toit noted that the resort is more than just a building project; it will generate employment and long‑term economic benefits for nearby communities. Throughout planning, local residents worked weekly—and sometimes daily—with the teams to secure approvals and keep the project on track.

Mayor Siduduzo Gumede of KwaDukuza Municipality added that the development creates jobs, raises the area’s international profile, and improves quality of life for residents.

What the Resort Offers

With the certificate in hand, Club Med’s operational team has already moved onto the site. Staff are undergoing induction and training as preparations begin for a gradual soft launch. The resort promises a blend of beach relaxation and safari adventure, aiming to meet international hospitality standards.

Looking Ahead – Opening Date

The official opening is set for July 4, 2026. This date will mark the moment when the North Coast gains a new hub for tourism investment of global caliber.

Why This Matters for the North Coast

Eva August, CEO of Century 21 South Africa, pointed out that Club Med does not choose locations randomly. Its presence signals that the global hospitality industry sees strong appeal in the North Coast, which in turn attracts international real‑estate interest.

The successful delivery of this project showcases how effective public‑private collaboration can bring large‑scale infrastructure to life, setting a precedent for future developments in the region.

Conclusion

The handover of the certificate of use is a clear sign that the Club Med South Africa Beach and Safari Resort is moving from concept to reality. For teens and young adults watching the growth of their hometown, this project offers a glimpse of new career opportunities, a boost in local pride, and a reason to look forward to a world‑class destination right on their doorstep.
