According to Omar Ben Yedder, Chair of the Awards Committee, the past two decades have witnessed a transformation in how African banks structure finance:

They are now structuring ground‑breaking transactions, leveraging domestic capital and their own balance sheets to finance transformative projects. The deal categories continue to demonstrate innovation to deliver much‑needed home‑grown solutions.”

This year’s shortlist includes three female bank chief executives nominated for the prestigious Banker of the Year award, an increase from two female contenders in 2025. Their presence reflects a broader trend of rising gender diversity at the helm of African financial institutions.
