Jub Jub will appear in court on Wednesday following his arrest for alleged kidnapping and shooting

Date:

Jub Jub’s Court Appearance Moved to Wednesday

What Happened?

On Sunday evening, June 14, 2026, media personality Molemo Maarohanye—better known as Jub Jub—was arrested in Edenvale. Police say he stopped an email (e‑hailing) driver who was taking a female passenger to a home. Jub Jub accused the driver of having a romantic relationship with his girlfriend.

Details of the Incident

The Confrontation

  • Around 7:30 am, Jub Jub approached the driver’s vehicle.
  • He allegedly forced the driver inside his own car and stopped him from leaving.

Use of a Firearm

During the standoff, Jub Jub reportedly fired a gun toward the driver. The driver was not hurt and drove straight to a nearby police station to report what happened.

Charges Filed

After the report, police arrested Jub Jub on the following counts:

  1. Kidnapping
  2. Unlawful discharge of a firearm
  3. Defeating the ends of justice

Court Appearance

Original Plan

Jub Jub was first scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 15.

Change of Date

Police later confirmed the appearance has been postponed. According to Captain Tintswalo Sibeko of Gauteng police, he will now appear at the Germiston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

Background: Previous Legal Issues

This is not the first time Jub Jub has faced serious accusations.

2023 Allegations

In 2023 he was charged with rape, assault, and attempted murder. The claims came from former Skeem Saam actress Amanda du Pont and former Newzroom Afrika news anchor Masechaba Khumalo.

Outcome

The National Prosecuting Authority withdrew those charges in 2024 after discussions between prosecutors and Jub Jub’s legal team.

What’s Next?

The investigation into the Edenvale incident is still ongoing. Police have said they will continue gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses before the court hearing.

Conclusion

Jub Jub’s scheduled court appearance has been moved from Monday to Wednesday while authorities work through the kidnapping and firearm charges. His past legal troubles add extra attention to this case, but the outcome will depend on the evidence presented in the coming days.
