Shooting at Marine Circle Café

What Happened?

On Monday, May 25, around 2 p.m., a 33‑year‑old man named Vhahangwele Makolana was sitting at the News Cafe in Marine Circle, Table View. Three unknown men walked in, went straight to his table, and opened fire. They grabbed his laptop and phone before fleeing. Medical staff declared him dead at the scene. No other patrons or employees were hurt.

The Western Cape Police’s Major and Violent Crimes Unit is asking the public to identify the suspects. A video of the attack has spread on social media, showing the gunmen entering the cafe and shooting. Captain Frederick van Wyk said the images could be key to solving the case.
