Missing Toddler in Limpopo: What We Know So Far

The Disappearance

On May 2, two‑year‑old Omphile Sethole was taken from her home in Ga‑Mabuela village. She was last seen around 2 a.m. by her 52‑year‑old grandmother, who had taken her to the bathroom before returning to bed. When the grandmother woke again at about 6 a.m., Omphile was gone and the bedroom window was open.

Description of Omphile

At the time she vanished, Omphile was wearing a pink leotard and black tights. She is described as a small, cheerful toddler with dark hair.

Search Efforts

Family members and neighbours launched an immediate search of the surrounding area, but no trace of the child was found. Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed that, ten days later, there are still no new leads, although officers continue to comb the neighbourhood and interview witnesses.

Police Statement

Limpopo Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe warned the public against spreading false rumours on social media. Posts claiming that Omphile has been found dead are untrue. The commissioner stressed:

“This information is untrue and the little girl has not been found. The search for the missing toddler is still ongoing.”
